Recruitment Update

Australian Schizophrenia Research Bank

Volunteer assessment is now well underway and hundreds of people from across Australia have completed the assessment program, which includes MRI brain scans, blood samples and detailed clinical information.

As of January 2013, recruitment numbers were:

  • Total Enrolled : 2,183 volunteers
  • Total Assessed : 1,839 (826 schizophrenia cases, 864 healthy controls & 149 other)

The above number of assessed includes an 518 schizophrenia cases collected from the Survey of High Impact Pychosis (SHIP) study.

Schizophrenia Research Institute Chair, Peter Maher launches the Australian Schizophrenia Research Bank.

 

Key Role in Global Genetics Study
 
The Australian Schizophrenia Research Bank has played a key role in a global study that investigated genetic variants associated with schizophrenia. The study replicated findings from previous genetic research and made new discoveries.
